Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have scored a big success in their fight against terrorism. In an encounter in the Gurez sector on Saturday, the Army killed notorious terrorist Bagu Khan, also known as the 'Human GPS.' For decades, he used his detailed knowledge of border routes to help terrorists infiltrate into India.

Bagu Khan was active in PoK since 1995

Bagu Khan, also known as “Samandar Chacha,” had been living in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) since 1995. He was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, but over time he assisted almost all terrorist organizations. Especially in Gurez and its surrounding areas, he helped terrorists infiltrate into India. His biggest strength was complete knowledge of every small and big route in the region, secret pathways, and geographical complexities.

Involved in more than 100 infiltrations

According to sources, Bagu Khan was involved in more than 100 infiltrations, most of which were successful. This ability made him extremely important for terrorist organizations. He not only guided the way but also played a key role in planning infiltrations, deciding the timing, and selecting safe routes. This is why security agencies had been searching for him for years.

Encounter in Naushera Nar area of Gurez sector

The encounter took place in the Naushera Nar area of the Gurez sector, where Army personnel spotted a group of heavily armed terrorists attempting to infiltrate under Operation Naushera Nar IV. In the retaliatory action, Bagu Khan and another terrorist were killed on the spot. However, sources say that around five more terrorists may still be hiding in the area, and the search operation is ongoing.

Major impact on terrorists’ network

The death of Bagu Khan is considered a major setback for terrorist organizations. His presence was a key part of the terrorists’ logistical support system. He not only facilitated infiltrations but also provided safe routes, hideouts, and essential resources. Now that security forces have eliminated him, it will have a direct impact on terrorist networks and their activities.
